A Storms Gift- God’s Word For Today

A Storm’s Gifts

Read Matthew 13:1 through 14:36

Peter’s daughter became ill with chronic fatigue syndrome while in high school, then with severe chemical sensitivities in her college years. She was so allergic to scents that she had to drop out of school. She couldn’t leave their home. If anyone visited her, she became violently sick. No doctor could help her. Her weight dropped dangerously low. Peter thought she would die. After more than a decade, God healed her. Later both Peter and his daughter saw God’s plan. Through the pain He molded them more into Christ’s image, and He prepared her for missionary service.

Often the storms of difficulty in life seem like the enemy. Instead, God uses them to teach His children and prepare them for greater ministry.

When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear (Matthew 14:26).

The storm was actually the disciples’ friend, for Jesus came to them walking on the waves. As a result, they saw Him in a deeper way—as the Son of God.

Challenge for Today: Search for Jesus’ comfort and guidance through your life’s storms.
