Not Knowing
Read Matthew 21:1 through 22:46
The Sadducees believed resurrection was a false idea, not something that could and would happen. When they asked Jesus
about resurrection, they were most likely trying to force Him into a corner, but He gave them this answer:
“You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God” (Matthew 22:29).
Jesus went on to explain from Scripture that the Sadducees’ view was incorrect.
Resurrection is central to Christian faith, and the reality of it was firmly established by Jesus through His teaching and through His appearance to more than five hundred of His followers after His death.
The Sadducees’ mistake, however, has not gone away. People sometimes accept incorrect teachings simply because they do not know what Scripture says. This is why it is essential for Christians to know God’s Word.
